Womennovator Megha supports her dreams through an innate zeal for doing impossible things in life. She grew up in a military family with a huge exposure to various cities and towns. She realized that women education was a far cry, as still girls are considered to be meant for marriage only. Once, she was declined to study human rights law in her specialization year by the university administration saying that she is a girl and that sooner or later, she will get married. She then decided to retaliate and fight for her right till the civil court got the heed of the issue and she became the first girl to study human rights in history. This situation made her rebellious and adamant to bring radical changes in the way the society thinks and functions. She started project DEFY, which stands for Design, Education for Yourself and also opened a website- www.projectdefy.org Here, for over the past 4 years, she has been empowering severely marginalized communities across India and Africa to create Self Organised Learning Environments and made them take the work back into their hands. They have impacted over 15 thousand people directly through this initiative. She also decided to create low-cost medical technology so that diagnostic equipment can reach the remotest part of the country. Thus, her company MUSE was born. She has currently created the cheapest digital stethoscope (under 50$) in the world and she hopes to build a foundation where her company can take diagnostic equipment to every household in this country.
